I learned about the joy of entertaining from my mother while I was still in grade school. She also taught me about the importance of dressing up when you are a guest, saying it was a sign of respect. There was such excitement in the house when my parents were getting ready for their parties and I loved watching the guests arrive to see the stylish clothes the women were wearing and to hear the music in the background along with the laughter and conversation of the adults. I was fortunate my parents had lots of parties and I could hardly wait to grow up and have parties of my own.
Since that time, my husband and I have hosted many get-togethers and it never feels like work to me to get ready for an event. I love seeing our favorite people enjoy themselves and I try to make them feel as special as I know how with special table settings and all the extras. Our guests are so appreciative and the fun memories of the parties seems to come up in conversation again and again. I can’t wait to help others organize and set up their own special events. The joy of sharing the time together remains long after the last guest walks out the door.
